Philadelphia – Three members of the Drexel men's soccer team have been honored by the Colonial Athletic Association with selections for the league's all-conference teams. Senior defender Bryan Ruff (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) and junior midfielder Anthony Bafile (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) were named to the All-CAA Second Team while junior defender Greg Ermold (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) earned a spot on the All-CAA Third Team. The awards were announced at the conference's annual men's soccer banquet on Thursday night, preceding Friday's championship semifinals.
Ruff completed his Drexel career this season with his second All-Conference honor. Last year he was named First Team All-CAA and also picked up First Team All-South Atlantic Region honors while leading one of the stingiest defenses in the nation. Ruff joins teammates Anthony Bafile and Fabio Assumpção as the only Dragons to earn back-to-back All-CAA honors.
Bafile secured a place on the All-CAA second team after leading the Dragons in scoring and assists for a second straight year. The midfielder was the league leader in assists per game in conference play this season and he now ranks among Drexel's top 15 all-time in helpers. Bafile was a Third Team All-CAA pick last season.
Ermold picked up his first All-Conference honor this year. The versatile and lanky defender helped to anchor the Dragons defense this year and also saw time at midfield. Ermold has been successful at every position in which he has been asked to play during his Drexel career. He served, not only as the team's top target for headers on corner kicks, but also its best challenger for 50-50 balls at midfield.
Drexel finished just out of contention for a second straight appearance in the CAA Tournament with a 6-7-5 overall mark and a 4-4-3 record in conference play. The Dragons scored 23 goals on the season, which was the team's best offensive output since 2002.
