Philadelphia - Adrian Sabovici was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Men's Swimmer of the Week after breaking a 24-year-old Drexel Pool record in his final appearance at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The senior set the new mark in the 1650 free event and also won the 500 free in the Dragons' 152-114 victory over visiting Providence. Sabovici shares this week's award with Old Dominion's Arni Arnason.
After Drexel took the meet-opening 200 medley relay, Sabovici posted his record-breaking performance in the 1650 free. Sabovici registered Drexel Pool's first sub-16-minute time as he recorded a 15:58.01 to break the pool record established in 1986 by a visiting Lehigh swimmer.
Sabovici will challenge for the conference title in the distance events at the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Championships starting on February 24.
