Philadelphia - Drexel freshman Chris Fouch has been named the CAA's Co-Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week. Fouch became the first Dragon to earn that distinction since Drexel joined the CAA prior to the 2001-02 season.
Fouch led the Dragons to two wins last week. On Wednesday, the New York native poured in 28 points as Drexel defeated Towson, 97-55. He was 6-for-7 from behind the three-point stripe and finished 7-for-9 from the field overall. From the line, the 6-foot-2 guard was 8-for-11. On Saturday, Fouch again led the team in scoring as Drexel defeated George Mason, who entered the game tied for first place. He scored 17 points and had two more three-pointers as the Dragons improved to 14-11 overall and 9-4 in CAA play.
Fouch averaged 22.5 points in the two games, shot .545 from the field and was 8-for-13 (.615) from three-point territory. He was also 13-for-17 (.765) from the line and committed no turnovers in 45 minutes of play. Fouch, who has now been named CAA Rookie of the Week three times, is second on the team in scoring at 11 points per game and leads all CAA rookies in that category.
Fouch shared the Player of the Week award with Matt Janning of Northeastern. The Dragons return to CAA play on Wednesday night at Hofstra.
