8/30/2010 4:18:49 PM | Men's Soccer
Philadelphia - The 2010 men's soccer season begins this Wednesday for the Drexel Dragons. First-year Head Coach Doug Hess will lead the Dragons onto Vidas Field against the Canisius Griffins in a 4:00 p.m. match, which is the first taste of competition for both teams this season. Fans who can't make it out to Vidas Field can track the match via livestats by clicking here.
Wednesday's match will mark a return to the pitch for senior Anthony Bafile, whose 2009 campaign was cut short early with a season-ending injury against Saint Joseph's. Bafile, Nate Baker and Andrew Goldberg are the top three returning scorers from last season. They join a host of talented newcomers who will all be working to get the Dragons back on the winning track this season.
Canisius went 5-12-2 in 2009 and will be looking to replace the offense of First Team All-MAAC striker Alan McGreal, who graduated. Drexel edged the Griffins last season 1-0 in Buffalo, N.Y. on a free-kick goal struck by Fabio Assumpcao in the 41st minute.
Parking and admission are free at Vidas Field on 43rd and Powelton Ave. in Philadelphia.
