Men's Squash Grabs 5-4 Win at Brown

RESULTS
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Drexel men's squash team ended a brief two-match losing skid on Saturday morning as they got a big win over Brown on the road, 5-4. Ben Bevan won the clinching match for Drexel, taking the point at No. 8 in five sets. Drexel came into the match ranked No. 16 in the nation, while Brown was one spot ahead at No. 15.
The Dragons were buoyed by strong play at the bottom of their ladder, winning three of the bottom four matches in the nine-man lineup. Two of those, Bevan's at No. 8 and Noel Solomon at No. 6, were five-set grinders. Solomon won his 11-8, 4-11, 11-5, 4-11, 11-6, while Bevan sealed the victory for Drexel with an 8-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-8 thrilling come-from-behind victory. Nat Fry, at No. 9, was also victorious in the bottom third of the order, taking his match in four sets, 8-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-4.
Drexel also got two much-needed points from the upper third of its lineup. Justin Singh at No. 2 worked his way to a 12-10 win in the first set before taking the next two, 11-7, 11-6. A spot below at No. 3, Michael Thompson also had to outlast his opponent in the first set before claiming a 12-10, 11-1, 11-5 victory.
The Dragons will now enjoy more than a month off as they take their winter break. They will be back in action at the Kline & Specter Squash Center against Trinity at 4 p.m. on January 9.
