Philadelphia – Drexel University's Lorenzo Albala has been named the 2013 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Rowing Performer of the Year. He was a part of the winning varsity eight boat at the Rumson Boat Race, the Kerr Cup, the Bergen Cup, the Frostbite Regatta, the Head of the Schuylkill, the Occoquan Sprints, and the Knecht Cup. At the Head of the Charles, Albala and the varsity eight boat posted their best finish at the prestigious event with a fourth-place finish.
Papadourakis was part of the Drexel men's second varsity eight that won a silver medal at the 2013 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. He earned gold medals at the Knecht Cup, Kerr Cup and Bergen Cup this spring. The sophomore standout also placed second at the Rumson Boat Race and the Navy Day Regatta along with a third-place finish at the Murphy Cup.
