Dragon Dispatches: Senior Double Advances on Day 1
6/20/2014 12:23:00 PM | Women's Rowing
Women's crew is off to England and their competition schedule is set. They will have a few days to get acclimated and shake off the jet lag before they hit the water for competition.
Remember that Henley-on-Thames, England is five hours ahead of Philadelphia.
The senior double was the first Drexel boat to take to the River Thames. Competing for the Rosie Mayglothling Trophy, they began with time trials on the morning of June 20 5:15 a.m. ET (10:15 a.m. in England) where they recorded a top 16 time to advance to the elimination rounds. They will take on Black Mountain of Australia at 4:03 a.m. ET (9:03 a.m. in England) on Saturday morning.

Drexel's second varsity eight competed for the G. P. Jeffries Memorial Trophy in the Senior 8 division beginning against Trinity College of Dublin, Ireland at 11:00 a.m. ET (4:00 p.m. in England) on June 20, where they unfortunately fell by two boat lengths. Trinity finished the course on the Thames in 5:07.

The Dragons' varsity eight will again compete for the Sports Council Cup in the Elite 8 division beginning against a qualifier from France at 8:25 p.m. ET (10:25 a.m. in England) on June 21. Drexel's varsity eight won the Sports Council Cup in 2010, though none of the current members were in the boat back then.
