Men's Varsity 8 Ranked No. 18 in USRowing Preseason Poll

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Crew's men's varsity eight was ranked No. 18 in the USRowing collegiate preseason poll, USRowing announced Wednesday on row2k.com.

Washington topped the poll, garnering seven of the 10 first-place votes. California (two) and Harvard (one) also received first-place votes in the poll. Ivy Leaguers Princeton and Brown rounded out the top five.

The Dragons lost four seniors from their varsity eight boat from a year ago. However, they had a talented second varsity eight, which won gold at the Dad Vail Regatta, from which to replace the departing rowers.

Drexel's varsity eight is in action this weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic, where it will face some of the top competition in the country. The Dragons will begin competition from California at 8:24 a.m. on Saturday.
