Men's and Women's Basketball Hold 2014-15 Banquet

Philadelphia - The Drexel men's and women's basketball team celebrated the 2014-15 season on Monday night at the annual banquet held. This year's banquet was held on campus at the Grand Meeting Room in Gerri C. LeBow Hall.
Both teams honored its seniors and handed out awards for the past season. Jamila Thompson was the lone senior on the women's team, while the men's team said goodbye to Sooren Derboghosian and Freddie Wilson.
Rachel Pearson was named the women's Most Valuable Player. The Liz Berry Most Improved Player and the Stephen Sher Academic Award each went to Jackie Schluth. Thompson was the Charge Leader, while Meghan Creighton and Schluth were given the Iron Dragon Award. Alexis Smith was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year and Sarah Curran was honored with the Lil Haas Coaches Award. The women's team advanced to the WNIT and made the posteseason for the sixth time in the last seven years.
Rodney Williams received three award on Monday night. He was presented with the Donald Shank Spirit & Dedication Award, the team's Academic Award and the "Sweep" Award for the top rebounder on the team. Tavon Allen was given the assist award as well as the Dragon "D" Award. Freshman Sammy Mojica was given the
Samuel D. Cozen Award which is given to the most improved player.
