Women's Tennis Signs Mya Fuentes and Marta Martinez to NLIs

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Tennis has signed Mya Fuentes and Marta Martinez to national letters of the intent, head coach Mehdi Rhazali announced Monday.
"We are excited to add Mya and Marta to our Dragons family," Rhazali said. "I'm sure that they will help us not only maintain our success but will help us improve our competitiveness and bring their own style and awesome personalities to Drexel Tennis."
Fuentes, who hails from Boca Raton, Fla., is a four-star recruit ranked No. 34 in the state of Florida. She has reached as high as No. 83 in the national rankings. In 2015, Fuentes placed third at the FHSAA state tournament in singles play, going 15-1 on the year. She shared Sun-Sentinel Palm Beach Player of the Year recognition for her efforts. Fuentes' father, Jose, is a Class of 1999 graduate of Drexel University.
Martinez, a native of Alicante, Spain, is currently ranked No. 37 overall in the Valencia region and No. 180 overall in women's open in Spain. She was a U14 regional champion and thus far in 2016 is the winner of the XVll National Sportclub Absolute Tournament, Vll National Arena Junior Tournament and the XVlll National Tennis Club Alacant Junior Tournament. Martinez, who attends Inmaculada Jesuitas, was also a semifinalist at the 2016 VI Master Tournament Mediterraneo Circuit and a finalist at the 2012 II Master Tournament Mediterraneo Circuit.
Fuentes and Martinez will begin their careers with the Dragons in 2017-18.
