RICHMOND, Va. – Drexel men's basketball freshman Jarvis Doles was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week, the conference announce Monday afternoon.
Doles averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds over the course of four games last week. The freshman from Baltimore, Md. had a career-high 11 points, including 3 for 3 from deep, to go along with seven boards on Saturday against Mercer in the second round of the Paradise Jam. He followed that performance up with 10 points and a career-high eight rebounds on Sunday against Drake to close out the Dragons' weekend in Lynchburg, Va. Doles opened the week by helping the Dragons to a 95-81 win Monday over Arcadia at the DAC before an 84-80 upset over Houston in the first round of the Paradise Jam on Friday.
The 6-foot-9 wing has worked himself into a dangerous deep threat for head coach Zach Spiker. Doles has hit at least one three in all five games so far and is 9 for 16 (56.3 percent) from beyond the arc in the early going. He started all four games last week after coming off the bench in the opener.
The Dragons return to action after Thanksgiving at NJIT on Saturday at 4 p.m.
