2/21/2017 11:09:00 AM | Men's Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA - Clarence "Andy" Andrews, Marshall Austin, Ray Greene and George "Brownie" Hill have been named to the 1940's All-Decade Team. Each decade team was selected by the Drexel University Men's Lacrosse Committee.
Drexel started playing lacrosse in 1941 and began keeping records in 1942. After a fine season in 1943 that saw Greene earn All-America status, the program was halted for two seasons due to World War II. The program started up again with six games in 1946.
The All-Decade teams, which will be announced each week, are part of a celebration that will take place throughout the year. The 75th anniversary festivities will culminate in Drexel's final regular-season home game against Delaware on Saturday, April 22 at 3 p.m. The Dragons will wear throwback jerseys during the season-finale. The 75th anniversary team will be honored during halftime of the contest against the Blue Hens. The All-Decade teams will be recognized at the postgame reception.
A celebratory reception and dinner for the 75th anniversary will follow the conclusion of the game at the Vidas Athletic Complex from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Drexel Lacrosse letterwinners plus one guest will receive free admission to the game and reception. The cost of the game and reception for all other guests will be $40 and $5 for children 12 and under. To RSVP, please click here.
