Arthur, Brown Set Records for Men’s Swimming and Diving on Friday at the #CAAChamps

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Drexel men's swimming and diving team held its second-place spot at the 2017 CAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Christiansburg, Va. after night three of four of the conference meet. The Dragons took home seven medals on Friday night including two golds, two silver and three bronze while setting three school records.
Sophomore Joseph Brown grabbed gold in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 55.10. In the morning prelims, he set a new Drexel record at 54.99. It was previously set at 55.99 as Brown knocked off a full second. Fellow sophomore Ralph Cannarozzi III placed third in the event for a bronze medal at 55.69.
In the final event of the night, freshman Jason Arthur, Brown, junior JT Lumpkin and senior Ivo Pejovic set a new Drexel benchmark in the 400-yard medley relay as the quartet took home the second gold of the evening. With a time of 3:14.37, the Dragons cut over three seconds off the previous school record.
Lumpkin finished in second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.48 to add a silver medal to his evening.
The Dragons finished with three of the top-four finishes in the 200-yard freestyle with Pejovic leading the way with a silver medal. At 1:38.75, Pejovic came in second followed by sophomore Luke Hanner for bronze at 1:38.87 with freshman Stathis Malamas rounding out the pack in fourth at 1:38.93. Sophomore Patrick Cobb placed eighth in the A final with a time of 1:40.29.
In the 400-yard individual medley, Arthur set a new Drexel record as he touched the wall at 3:53.20 for the bronze finish.

The four-day meet concludes tomorrow with prelims followed by finals. On Saturday, prelims will take place at 10 a.m. followed by finals at 6 p.m.

Friday – 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, Women's 1-meter, 400 medley relay
Saturday – 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, Men's 3-meter, 400 free relay
