Men's Tennis Sweeps Weekly CAA Performer of the Week Awards

RICHMOND, Va. – Hamza Laalej has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Performer of the Week while the duo of Kashyap Ashok and Sinan Orhon picked up CAA Doubles Performer of the Week honors, the conference announced Wednesday.

Laalej won a pair of three-set matches in the top spot on the week to help the Dragons to wins over Villanova, 6-1, and Wagner, 5-2. The junior from Meknes, Morocco the Wildcats' Luis Miranda, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (3), before downing the Seahawks' Anitoliy Lushkul, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Laalej also picked up a doubles win with partner Youssef Lahlou against Villanova's Tyler Roth and Stefan Suarez, 6-4. Laalej is 16-7 overall this season.

Ashok and Orhon earned a victory over Villanova's Will Elmore and Luis Miranda, 6-4, to lead the Dragons past the Wildcats, 6-1. The duo is now 18-5 playing together this season. Orhon also picked up two wins on the weekend in No. 3 singles.

The Dragons have a busy weekend upcoming as the women's team at Penn and hosting Wagner on Saturday before both teams head to NJIT on Sunday.
