Drexel Athletics Launches Vidas Athletic Complex Fundraising Campaign

PHILADELPHIA -Â Drexel Athletics has received a $1 million lead gift commitment from Drexel University Trustee and men's lacrosse alumnus Jim Bean '91 and his wife Christine. With this momentous support, Drexel Athletics has officially launched a fundraising campaign for improvements to the Vidas Athletic Complex.
This transformational project will directly impact the men's and women's lacrosse and soccer programs which call the Vidas Complex home. It will be a renovation that will effect Dragons of today and tomorrow, and create space needed to prepare leaders and build champions.
The lower field at Drexel University's Vidas Athletic Complex serves as the training and competition ground for some of our winningest Division I teams. The improvements made to the complex will enhance the overall experience of the student athletes, drive recruiting of high caliber prospects for coaches, and put Drexel Athletics on a platform to compete with other CAA venues and programs.
Drexel Athletics has developed a $3.5 Million renovation plan for the complex that will transform it into a venue suitable for championship athletics.
Planned Improvements
- A state-of-the-art video scoreboard that allows for in-game replays, player highlights, and sport-specific statistics
- Replacing 900 seat bleachers with a permanent and more polished seating structure that accommodates 1600+ and includes 300+ chair back seats
- Regrading of the North-end hill to accommodate additional seating
- A film tower at the top of the seating structure which provides improved angles for broadcast productions and coaching videos
- A new entrance which includes a plaza with a permanent ticket office enclosed within a branded tower
- New functional spaces such as a concession and merchandise building; two team rooms accessible directly from the field; storage areas; an officials' locker room; and restroom facilities
 
 
How You Can Help
The Vidas Improvement Project campaign is fueled by private funding. Any size gift during this campaign must be earmarked towards the Vidas Improvement Project. Ways to give include outright gifts, multi-year pledges, and gifts of stock.
All gifts and commitments $5,000 and above (paid in full by June 2022) will be recognized on a donor wall within the Vidas Athletic Complex.

The $1 million commitment has been generously submitted as a matching opportunity for gifts towards the Vidas Improvement Project. You can double the impact of your gift through the project's matching opportunity.
All gifts and commitments $25,000 and above will be matched dollar for dollar up to $1 million.
*Commitments can be made over 5 years, and must be paid in full by June 2022 to qualify
