Mario the Magnificent
WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE FOR THE DREXEL UNIVERSITY MASCOT
The official mascot of Drexel University is the Dragon, named Mario the Magnificent. Mario gets his name from a Drexel Alumni, Mario V. Mascioli, who didn't miss a Drexel game for more than 20 years. Just like the man he is named for, Mario is an enormous fan of both Drexel and Drexel Athletics. He can be seen rooting on teams from the sidelines, dancing on the court during timeouts, and causing general lighthearted mayhem around campus. Mario enjoys posing for pictures, high-fives, and signing autographs for Dragon Fans.

THINK YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE THE NEXT MARIO THE MAGNIFICENT?
All Mascots are expected to perform with the highest level of dedication and commitment. All Mascots must be full time Drexel students in good academic standing. The typical time commitment for Mario ranges from 0-5 hours a week for the entire school year. A schedule is provided for all home men's and women's basketball games, which fall on evenings and weekends. (The greatest time commitment falls between November-March.) Appearances outside of basketball games are filled on a rolling basis, as requests come in.
Mascots must be in good physical shape and able to wear the full costume for a period of 2 hours with a few breaks, the length of most basketball games.
