Lisa Van Pelt Diller was a two-time captain of the women’s swimming team. She was a three-event winner at the Philadelphia AIAW championship meet and a member of five winning relay teams. The Dragons advanced to the AIAW Small College nationals in her junior year and finished second as a team. She recorded three first-place finishes (50-, 100- and 200-yard backstroke) and anchored the winning 200- and 400- medley relay groups. All five times established new national, Drexel and pool marks. As a senior, she led Drexel to a third place finisher at the 34th Annual Intercollegiate Swim championships. Van Pelt was a national qualifier in the 50- and 100-backstroke events and was a member of the winning 200-medley relay squad.
Van Plet was a member of Drexel’s first intercollegiate women’s swimming team in 1977-78, a team that finished 10-0 in dual meets. Van Pelt was named a Small College All-American that year and finished fifth at the AIAW Division II National Championships in the 50-yard backstroke and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke. Her teams lost just one dual meet in her three years.
