Mary Semanik was Drexel’s Women’s Director of Athletics from 1965 through 1991. She is a member of many Halls of Fame. Perhaps her most notable recognition came from Lacrosse Magazine, which named her to the All-Century Women’s Lacrosse Team for the United States.
Mrs. Semanik started at Drexel in the 1950’s where she taught classes and coached numerous teams. She was a key person during the transition from AIAW to NCAA Division I for women. The advent of Title IX in 1972 transformed women’s intercollegiate athletics. Mrs. Semanik oversaw numerous conference championships during her tenure as director.
