Paul Ludwig was an NCAA qualifier in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle three times. A co-captain on the 1973 and 1974 Dragons teams and a captain in 1975, Ludwig was twice the Middle Atlantic Champion in the 100-yard freestyle. He had eight top-three finishes in MAC swim events and qualified for the Eastern Regionals on three occasions. He finished fifth at Easterns in the 50-yard freestyle in 1972. As a senior, the first year Drexel was a member of the East Coast Conference, Ludwig finished fourth in the 50-freestyle and sixth in the 100-butterfly. Ludwig at one time held six Drexel swim marks and graduated with record in the 50-freestyle (21.4), 100-freestyle (47.3) and was a member of the 400-freestyle team (3:11.56).
