Richard DiSebastian letter in both cross country and track and field during his four years at Drexel. He set the Drexel record in the two-mile run with a time of 9:12.2 and also set the Belmont Plateau cross-country course record. He graduated from the University in 1973.
DiSebastian became a nationally known long distance runner. He won the Philadelphia Marathon in back-to–back years in 1977 and 1978. He also qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon. In the National Marathon Finals, DiSebastian finished in seventh place, behind Frank Shorter and Bill Rogers.
