An excellent all-around athlete, Potter was a superb punter, passer and broken field runner who played primarily at left halfback. He was a team captain in 1934 and was the team’s second-leading scorer in both 1933 and 1934. In 1935, he scored two touchdowns against Delaware and threw for two more against Susquehanna.
