Philadelphia – Drexel University sophomore Mark Manos has been named this week's Colonial Athletic Association men's lacrosse Co-Player of the Week. Manos led the Dragons to two wins, including an overtime victory against then No. 3 Notre Dame.
Manos was sensational in the Dragons 7-6 overtime win against the Fighting Irish. The West Chester, Pa., native tied a career-high with 17 saves, including 12 in the first half, as the Dragons defeated Notre Dame for the first time. Manos followed that performance with a nine-save effort as Drexel defeated St. John's, 11-4. He held the Red Storm offense off the board for the final 40 minutes of the game.
Manos leads the CAA with a 5.94 goals against average and a .663 save percentage. He is averaging more than 10 saves per game for the Dragons, who have won their last five games after losing their opener, 11-8, to Virginia, who is currently ranked first in the nation. Manos shares the award with Jamie Lincoln of Hofstra.
Drexel is now 5-1 this season and is ranked 12th in the nation in the latest USILA Poll. The Dragons are 16th in the Nike Media Poll. Drexel is off until Sunday, when it visits Albany in a non-conference game at 1 p.m.
