Dan Pyne has been named to the U.S. Ice Hockey Team that will compete in the World University Games in Turkey. Pyne, a standout goalie on the Drexel Men's Hockey Club Team, will travel with the rest of the U.S. Team to compete from Jan. 27-Feb. 6. The U.S. team is comprised of players from collegiate ice hockey teams affiliated with the American Collegiate Hockey Association. Pyne, a Warrington, Pa. native, is just one of two goalkeepers on the team. In addition to the naming of Pyne to the U.S. Team, Drexel Head Coach Gregg Marinari was named the Head Coach of the U.S. National Junior Sled Hockey Team.
Marinari had served as the team's assistant coach during the 2009-10 season. The team will take part in multiple camps throughout the course of the season as well as a pair of exhibition series against Canada's national junior sled hockey team. "The level of interest in our sport is clearly growing," said Gregg Marinari, head coach of the 2010-11 U.S. National Junior Sled Hockey Team. "I'm looking forward to working with these players and bringing new talent into the USA Hockey fold."
