PHILADELPHIA - Drexel men's basketball alumnus Michael Anderson has been named to the Drexel 100, the University's alumni hall of fame which was launched in honor of the school's 100th anniversary in 1992. Anderson, who was the first Drexel basketball player to earn a roster spot in the NBA, was one of 17 Drexel graduates to earn a spot in the Drexel 100 Class of 2015.
Anderson helped put Drexel basketball on the map, leading the Dragons to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance in 1986. Still tied for first all-time in NCAA history in career triple-doubles, Anderson is also among the top 10 in career steals in the NCAA. Anderson still sits atop the Drexel all-time leaderboard with 2,208 points. He is also in the top spot among all Drexel men's basketball players for career scoring average (19.2 ppg), free throws made (705), assists (724) and steals (341). In addition to the 1986 NCAA trip, Anderson's career was highlighted by a victory over a Naval Academy team that included David Robinson. He was recognized in 2008 as a Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Legend.
The Drexel 100 inducts new members every two years, as the Drexel community bestows this highest level of alumni recognition on a small, select group of graduates whose lifetime achievements have brought great honor to Drexel University. These achievements may be professional, civic, or in service to the University. Induction in the Drexel 100 is especially meaningful because it represents recognition by one's peers. New members are elected only by the current Drexel 100 membership.
