Carl Hertrich, who graduated in 1971, earned seven varsity letters at Drexel after competing for three seasons in both baseball and football and participating for one season in lacrosse. The recipient of the General Greene Award as Outstanding Sophomore Athlete in 1969, Hertrich was honored with the Sigma Mu Alpha Award as the top junior athlete in 1970 and the Alumni Varsity Club Award as the Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1971. He also received the 1969 baseball and football Coaches’ Award and served as a baseball co-captain in 1970. A former president of the Drexel Athletic Club, Hertrich also served as a student coach for the freshman football team in 1970.
