John “Jack” Shine led all of Division I in doubles on two occasions. He was also among the national leaders in slugging percentage (third), batting average (eighth) and runs batted in (13th) as a junior. A two-time East Coast Conference All-Star, Shine set or tied 18 records while at Drexel.
Shine, an outfielder, led the team in hitting as both a freshman and a junior and was the team MVP as a senior. He hit .371 as a freshman and a remarkable .453 as a junior. Upon completion of his career, Shine played baseball in Holland duringthe summer of 1979 and earned Best Hitter honors during a national qualifying tournament.
