Lillian Haas served as Drexel’s head coach from 1963-1992, leading Drexel into Division I competition beginning in the 1982-83 season. Haas, who ended her career as the winningest coach in Drexel women’s basketball history, compiled a career record of 264-178, putting her among some elite company in the NCAA Division I women’s basketball coaching circles. She is credited with 20 winning seasons, 144 Division I victories, one East Coast Conference Championship coming during the 1987-88 season and three Philadelphia AIAW divisional titles. She also produced all-conference performers during each year that she was coaching, including an Academic All-American in Megan Keating in 1992.
In addition to her coaching duties, Haas also served as an associate professor of physical education. In 1996, the women’s basketball team created a Coaches Award named in Haas’ honor, given annually to a student-athlete for their contribution to the team both on and off the court.
