Maury H. McMains served in various capacities during his 33-year tenure from 1935-1968. He had head coaching stints in football, baseball, lacrosse and golf as well as time in athletic administration. Additionally, McMains served as physical education instructor at the school for 24 years. He became Drexel’s director of athletics in 1943, a post he maintained intermittently until his retirement in 1968. His days at Drexel will be remembered not only for his leadership in coaching, but also for his development of athletics at the grass-roots level and his commitment to Drexel Athletics, particularly during the war years. Mr. McMains passed away in 1993 at the age of 90.
