Paul Blaum received four letters in swimming at Drexel from 1978 to 1982. He served as team co-captain during both his junior and senior years. Blaum was a three-time East Coast Conference championship finalist. As a freshman, he finished third in the 100-yard butterfly at the ECC Championships. Blaum finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly at the 1982 ECC Championships. As a junior, he finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle at the 1981 ECC Championships. He finished sixth in the 100-yard butterfly at the 1980 ECC Championships. Blaum swam in up to seven events in some meets during his career. Blaum was the only Drexel male swimmer to make the ECC finals in every event (including relays) for four consecutive years.
