Paul Zarbanty was a key member of both Drexel’s 1985 ECC Championship Team as well as the 1987 team, which set the mark as the winningest team in Dragon wrestling history with a 17-5-1 record. Zarbatany remains the only Dragon to be honored with the F.C. Walton Award as the team’s most valuable player twice in his career, taking the honor after the 1986 and 1987 seasons. In the championship season, Zarbanty, the ECC Champion at 118 pounds, was the lightweight bookend in Drexel’s dominant lineup that also included heavyweight champion George Kovach. Zarbanty moved up to the 126 pound weight class in 1986 and continued to dominate, earning ECC Most Outstanding Wrestler honors that year and again in 1987. He was a three-time NCAA Tournament qualifier and is ninth on Drexel’s all-time wins list with 88 career victories.
