A two sport athlete at Drexel, Samuel Potter earned seven letters during his playing career. Potter was a five year member of the football team and also played two seasons of baseball before graduating in 1936.
An excellent all-around athlete, Potter was a superb punter, passer and broken field runner who played primarily at left halfback. He was a team captain in 1934 and was the team’s second-leading scorer in both 1933 and 1934. In 1935, he scored two touchdowns against Delaware and threw for two more against Susquehanna. As a baseball player, Potter played for two seasons as a first baseman and left fielder.
