UConn and Binghamton Visit Drexel Pool For Weekend of Swimming & Diving Competition

Philadelphia – The Drexel men's and women's swimming & diving team will return home to host a diving competition against UConn on Friday, Nov. 12, followed by a meet against Binghamton on Saturday.
The Dragons dive into this weekend coming off a loss at George Washington, where the men dropped a 151-107 decision and the women were defeated 145-114. This match dropped both teams to a 2-4 record on the season. Despite the loss, Drexel took a number of wins in the meet. Malin Wiberg for the women and Greg Oprendek for the men both secured first place in the 100 yard and 200 yard breast events. Freshman Gizem Yali won the 200 yard backstroke event with a time of 2:08.97, placing her fourth on the All-Time Top 5 list for the event.
After the Dragons' Oct. 30 meet at the Loyola Invitational, diver Megan Halicek was named Colonial Athletic Association Women's Diver of the Week. The sophomore earned this honor after she swept the diving events in the tournament.
UConn's swimming and diving teams are coming off two wins over Army last weekend. The men's team is now 3-0 on the season while the women's record is 3-1. Binghamton split its last meet against UMass, which resulted in 160-159 victory for the women and a 157-162 loss for the men.
Both of this weekend's events will be held at the Drexel Pool in the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Friday's competition will start at 3:30 p.m., while Saturday's meet will begin at 1 p.m.
