
Mytych's NCAA Run Comes to an End with 3-1 Defeat

Omaha, Neb. - Steve Mytych dropped a tough 3-1 decision to Danny Mitcheff in the consolation bracket at the 2010 NCAA Wrestling Championships. The loss ended his tournament run just one victory shy of a top-eight finish and All-America status. Mytych, the 133-pound Colonial Athletic Association champion, is a four-time NCAA qualifier and ended his career as the Dragons' all-time leader in wins.
Mytych, seeded 12th, picked up an opening-round victory before falling to No. 4 Borislav Novachkov. The senior kept his All-America aspirations alive with a victory over Kevin Smith of Buffalo before pulling out a sudden victoy triumph against David Marble of Bucknell to set up a showdown with Mitcheff with the winner earning All-America honors. The pair had split their two previous meetings this season but Mitcheff won the third bout by 3-1 decision.
