Dragons Edge Hofstra in CAA Opener 4-3

Hempstead, N.Y. - Sonja Stosic and Zeynep Mafa secured victories in singles and doubles play to lead the Dragons to a 4-3 victory in dual match play agains Hofstra. The Dragons took four of six singles matches, while the Pride grabbed a team point in doubles play by winning two of three matches. The Dragons improve to 4-5 on the season in dual matches with the victory.
Stosic took care of her opponent Malissa Galanchi 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets at second singles. Mafa made quick work of Lauren Clifton at third singles in a pair of 6-2 set victories. Fellow freshman Alex Bell locked up her first conference dual victory of her young career by knocking off Brook Sailer 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 in a hard-earned three-set victory.
The Dragons return to the court on March 11 when they travel to play Towson at 2:00 p.m.
