Women's Tennis Sweeps Monmouth, 7-0

West Long Branch, N.J. - The Drexel women's tennis team defeated Monmouth, 7-0, on Sunday. The Dragons won all three doubles matches as well as six singles. Coach Medhi Rhazali said, “We did not change our level of play throughout doubles as well as singles, and we played very well from the first point to the last.”
For doubles competition, No. 1 Dragons Zeynep Mafa and Marcela Rosales defeated Nicole Lippens and Brooke Verdiglione, 8-3. Next, No. 2 Nicole Pivonka and Emma Brook defeated Ashley Sandler and Dana Ferrari, 8-0. Finally for the third doubles win, Alex Bell and Aysenil Orhon took down Sarah Turner and Liz D'Arcy, 8-0.
For singles, Marcela Rosales beat Nicole Lippens at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0, while No. 2 Zeynep Mafa took her match against Brooke Verdiglione, 6-1, 6-1. No. 3 Nicole Pivonka beat out Ashley Sandler, 6-0, 6-3, and Emma Brook at No. 4 also took her match with a defeat against Dana Ferrari, 6-0, 6-0. Following suit, No. 5 Alex Bell swept past Monmouth's Sarah Turner, 6-0, 6-0. Finally, Aysenil Orhon No. 6 finished the singles off against Emily Ellis, winning 6-0, 6-0.
The Dragons ended the day strong and will use the win as momentum for their matchup against Rider on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at home.
