Philadelphia, Pa. – Damion Lee scored a career-high 28 points, but Rider rallied from a nine-point deficit in the second half to defeat Drexel, 75-66, at the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
Drexel (2-5) went on a 9-0 run to break a 37-37 deadlock. Lee scored on a driving lay-up and a three-pointer, both set up by Frant Massenat. After a Goran Pantovic tip-in, Lee hit another jumper to put the Dragons ahead 46-37. However, the Broncs (5-4) responded with a 14-0 run to take the lead. Rider made back-to-back three pointers at the end of the run to take a 51-46 lead. The Dragons were able to tie it at 60, but once again the Broncs responded, this time with an 11-2 run to take control in the final minutes.
The Dragons committed 16 turnovers that led to 23 points as Rider pressed throughout the contest. Drexel held a slim one-point lead at the half, but Rider shot a blistering 64 percent in the second half, including 3-for-4 from behind the arc.
