Box Score
Philadelphia, Pa. – Chris Fouch scored 25 points, including the 1,000th of his career, as Drexel defeated Hofstra, 78-67, for its 13th straight victory. The Dragons (21-5) shot 60 percent from the floor and 59 percent from behind the arc as they remained tied for the top spot in the CAA with a 13-2 record.
The Pride (8-19, 2-13) trailed by just two in the early minutes of the second half after opening the final frame with a 8-2 run. After the teams traded baskets, Drexel answered with a 10-0 run of its own, keyed by Fouch. He started the stretch with three free throws after being fouled on a three-point attempt. Fouch drained a three on the next trip and after Daryl McCoy and Damion Lee scored, the Dragons were on top, 46-36. Drexel extended its lead to as many as 19 points in the second half, but the Pride kept playing and started to make some shots. Hofstra whittled the lead down to eight points with 4:13 to play when Nathaniel Lester hit a short jumper. The Pride couldn't cut the lead under eight the rest of the way. Drexel won for the 14th straight time on its home court and shot 63 percent in the final 20 minutes of the game.
Fouch had one of his best games as a Dragon. The junior was 6-for-7 from long range and missed just two of his 10 shots on his way to a season-high in scoring. Frantz Massenat continued to play well and added 20 points. The sophomore was 8-for-9 shooting, made all three of his free throws and handed out five assists. Damion Lee was also in double figures with 15 points. Drexel needed good shooting efforts as the Dragons committed an uncharacteristic 18 turnovers in the game. Once again the Dragons took care of business from the charity stripe, sinking all but one of their 13 attempts.
Lester led all players with 27 points. He was 12-for-15 from the line and also had eight rebounds. Mike Moore added 18 and had a pair of three pointers. The Pride was 21-for-26 from the line in the game and had 19 offensive rebounds.
Drexel is back at the DAC on Valentine's Day. The Dragons host William & Mary at 7 p.m. in a game that can be seen live on Comcast SportsNet.
