
Women's Eight Earns Fourth in Third Finals at San Diego Crew Classic

San Diego, Calif. – The Drexel men's and women's varsity top eight boats completed their first day of competition at the 39th Annual San Diego Crew Classic held on Mission Bay. The men's team posted fourth place in the grand finals on Sunday, while women finished fourth in the third finals on Saturday.
The men's varsity eight boat placed second with a time of 6:13.60 in the preliminary heat and automatically locked a spot in the grand finals. Coxswain Randall Lee, stroke Kurt Linton, Paul Wisniowski, Aleksandar Radovic, Lorenzo Albala, Sebastian Ryan, Vanja Busic, Michael Faust and bow Will Masters finished behind Notre Dame. The Dragons stopped the clock before San Diego, California – Los Angeles, Rollins, Arizona, and San Diego State respectively.
The men stopped the clock at 6:37.86 for fourth place in the grand finals of the American Specialty Health Cal Cup on Sunday. Grand Valley captured first place with a time of 6:32.09 followed by Notre Dame and Purdue. The Dragons finished ahead of Oklahoma City and Georgia Tech.
The women's varsity eight crossed the finish line at 7:05.71 for fifth place in the preliminary heat. Duke took first place with a time of 6:48:94 followed by San Diego, Gonzaga and Kansas State. Coxswain Alex Paulin, stroke Elizabeth Bratton, Julia Jackson, Sierra Baca, Juliana DeMarici, Mallory Sykes, Mollie Cusack and bow Alexa Antonioli advanced to the third finals, which was held later that afternoon.
The women finished fourth overall in the third finals with a time of 6:59.72. Miami stopped the clock first at 6:49.69 followed by Saint Joseph's and UCD respectively. The women's varsity eight outlasted San Diego State.
