Women's Tennis Sweep Rider, 7-0

LAWRENCE TWP, N.J.- The Drexel women's tennis team swept Rider, 7-0, in today's match. The Dragons had three solid doubles wins and straight set victories in singles play.
In singles competition, Zeynep Mafa took down her opponent, 6-4, 6-2, while teammate Nicole Pivonka also bested Rider's, Michelle Caravaglio, 6-0, 6-1. From there, freshman Lea Winkler breezed through, No. 3 Kerrin Toner, in a 6-0, 6-0, decision, followed by fellow freshman Fiorella Coria, who beat out her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Erin Bowsher kept the streak alive when she took down, Kim Leder, 6-0, 6-0, and No. 6 Alex Bell finished up win a, 6-1, 6-1, victory.
In doubles play, No. 1 Pivonka and Coria took down their competition, 8-3. No. 2 Bowsher and Winkler continued by sweeping their match, 8-0. Finally, in No. 3 Amanda Tilles and Mel Reyes defeated Rider, 8-2.
The Dragons will return to the court on October, 17 where they will compete at the ITA Northeast Regionals.
