PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's basketball team fell to Saint Joseph's at Hagan Arena on Wednesday night, 70-52. The Dragons move to 2-2 on the season, while the Hawks improve to 3-1.

Both teams came out firing in what proved to be a very fast paced first half. The Dragons and Hawks were neck-and-neck for the first ten minutes, until Saint Joseph's began to pull away. The deficit increased to as much as 15 in the first half. Dragons went into halftime trailing the Hawks 37-26, after Jackie Schluth drained a jumper to cut Saint Joseph's lead to 11 with 42 seconds remaining.

Just minutes after the second half began, Rachel Pearson cut it to a 10 point game with a three-pointer, assisted by Meghan Creighton. Despite multiple promising opportunities, the Dragons would come no closer than within 10 points of the Hawks throughout the remainder of the game.

Freshman Sarah Curran led the Dragons in the losing effort with 12 points, marking her second-straight outing in double figures, and seven rebounds. Creighton's five assists also marked a team high for the Dragons. Schluth had a standout outing as well tallying a career-high nine points, four rebounds, and an assist.

The Dragons return to action on Monday as they travel to College Park, Md. to face Maryland at 7:00 p.m.
