Wrestling Falls to Rutgers, 26-10, in Final Home Dual of the Season

Philadelphia, Pa. – Drexel Wrestling fell to Rutgers, 26-10, in their last home dual of the season on Friday evening at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Dragons move to 8-11 overall, while the Scarlet Knights improve to 16-3. Four Drexel seniors, Frank Cimato, Joshua Yurasits, Charles Aungst, and Jack Callender were honored before the dual for Senior Night.
Rutgers started off the dual with a win-by-fall at 285 to put them up 6-0. Goodwin put up a good fight next at 125, but lost a 7-3 decision to Rutgers' Joseph Langel III. The Scarlet Knights then picked up a 13-0 lead in the dual with a major decision at 133. Senior Frank Cimato followed with a powerful 9-3 decision at 141 to put the Dragons on the board, 13-3. Fellow senior Yurasits followed with another strong performance at 149 but was defeated 10-7 by Rutgers' Ken Theobold to make the score 16-3.
Noel Blanco came in at 157 with a stellar performance and earned a major decision over Mikey Simmons. However, the Scarlet Knights followed with three consecutive wins at 165, 174, and 184 to increase their lead to 26-7. Brandon Palik finished off the night with a 4-0 decision at 197.
Next up for Drexel, the Dragons will head to Penn on Sunday, February 24 for their final dual of the regular season. Matches are set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
