12/16/2014 9:14:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Buffalo, N.Y. — Buffalo used an eight-point run midway through the second half to break open a close game and defeated Drexel, 80-70, on Tuesday night at Alumni Arena.
The Dragons trailed by just four after Tyshawn Myles scored on a put-back with 11:19 remaining in the second half. However, the Dragons went scoreless over the next three minutes. During that time, Buffalo's Jarryn Skeete scored eight straight, including two three-pointers, to give the Bulls a comfortable 61-49 lead. The Dragons couldn't get any closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Damion Lee led the Dragons with 24 points, including 18 in the second half. The junior shot just 2-for-10 from deep, but added five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals. Rashann London scored a career-high 17 points and was 7-for-9 shooting on the night. Tavon Allen chipped in with 10.
Buffalo was led by Justin Moss who equaled his season averages with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Skeete had 14 and nailed four three-pointers. The Bulls hauled in 16 offensive rebounds that led to 22 second-chance points. Bobby Hurley's big men played well as the Bulls scored 42 of their 80 points in the paint. Lamonte Bearden and Shannon Evans each had eight assists.
The Dragons got off to a tough start shooting early, but finished shooting 45 percent from the floor. However, the Dragons long-range offense wasn't clicking as Drexel was just 4-for-17 from behind the arc.
Drexel will play one more game before the holiday break. The Dragons face Penn State on Saturday in Allentown, Pa. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3.
