Women's Crew Dominates Over Lehigh, Temple and Delaware on the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's crew team won four out of five races against Lehigh, Temple and Delaware on the Schuylkill River on Saturday.
At 2:12 p.m., the women's novice eight "A" took to lane one in the John Daskalaskis boat. Coxswain, Abigail Colasacco led stroke Kendall Wenzke, Lauren Sand, Erin Arnold, Christina Alleva, Emily Doris, Molly Dudrear, Gabriella Salcedo, and bow Jenna O'Toole to a first place finish over Temple and Delaware with a time of 7:22.82.
Next up, in lane two, the women's varsity four "B" came in with a close second place finish, stopping the clock at 8:34.8. Nupur Parikh led the Dawn Byers boat with stroke Hannah Devlin, Mercedes Barr, Emma Cardwell, and bow Eugenia Chalbaud-Santeliz.
The women's varsity four "A" kept the first place finish at home when they defeated Temple, Delaware, and Lehigh, from lane three, with a sweeping time of 7:55.98. Coxswain Sarah Messenger led the Sandra Lee Sheller boat with stroke, Barbara McKenna, Colleen Delaney, Elisabeth Wagner, and bow Emily Gartland.
At 2:48 p.m., the women's second varsity eight, in the Marlene Buckley boat, took first place in lane four with a time of 7:10.64. Coxswain Catherine Hamilton led stroke Olivia Babiec, Elizabeth Campanella, Taylor Brady, Samantha Cowan, Sierra Baca, Alyssa Leahy, Stephanie Thomas, and bow Julie McGlynn.
The last race of the day came from the women's varsity eight in lane one. The Dragons took down Temple and Delaware with a first place time of 6:48.16. Kerry Walsh coxswained the Maria Papadakis boat, and led stroke Victoria King, Elizabeth Daugherty, Amanda O'Malley, Marina Forster, Jayme Batcher, Bridget Pfeifer, Amanda Kleuser, and bow Elise Levito.
