Women's and Men's Tennis Defeat Hofstra at Home

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's and men's tennis squads defeated Hofstra in a 2 p.m. home match. The women move to 9-2 on the season and the men advance 7-5.
The women dominated in doubles competition. Zeynep Mafa and Marcela Rosales were victorious, 8-3. Teammates Nicole Pivonka and Erin Bowsher were also successful, bringing home the, 8-4, win. Finally, Freshmen, Lea Winkler and Fiorella Coria took down their competition, 8-1.
During singples play, the Dragons won every match, but No. 2. At No. 1 and No. 3 Mafa and Rosales each played marathon matches and managed to make the right adjustments to land them the, 6-3, 7-5, and 6-4, 7-6 (5), respective wins. Bowsher played aggressive tennis and was able to take down her opponent, 6-0, 6-1. Coria and Winkler closed out at No. 4 and No. 6. winning their matches, 6-1, 6-4, and 6-2, 6-2, respectively.
The men's squad took the doubles point when Dan Koehler and Skyler Davis won their match, 8-4, and then Badr Ouabdelmoumen and Daniel Hansen dominated at No.3 going, 8-3.
In singles play, Ouabdelmoumen, Davis, and Koehler all played long matches, but were able to shift momentun at the right moments to earn points. At No. 1, Ouabdelmoumen defeated his opponent, 5-7, 7-6 (6), 6-4. At No. 3, Davis brought home the win with a final score of, 7-6 (5), 6-3. At No. 5, Koehler was able to pull out the win, 7-6 (4), 6-4. Paul Stauskas also defeated his competition in straight sets, going 6-2, 6-2.
Next up, the Dragons will head to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on james Madison in conference play.
