Women's and Men's Tennis Split Results Against Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's tennis squad defeated Saint Joseph's in an exciting 5-2 victory, on Tuesday. The men lost in a 6-1 decision. The women advance to, 11-3, on the season, and the men hold an 8-7, record overall.
The women swept doubles competition winning all three matches. Zeynep Mafa and Marcela Rosales landed an, 8-6, victory. Nicole Pivonka and Erin Bowsher defeated their opponents, 8-4. Freshmen, Fiorella Coria and Lea Winkler dominated their match, 9-7.
In singles play, Saint Joseph's was able to grab the No. 1 win, then fell silent for No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, as Pivonka dominated to a, 6-0, 6-0, win, and Rosales was victorious with a final result of, 6-3, 6-3. At No. 5, Winkler took the win in three sets going, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4, followed by Coria who fought her way at No. 6 to a, 6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-4, win.
On the men's side, the only wins of the day came from Badr Ouabdelmoumen and Daniel Hansen in doubles play when they defeated their opponents, 8-7 (5), and in singles play when Alex Fioravante fought his way to a, 3-6, 6-7, 12-10, victory.
The women will return to the court on Friday, April 4 when they will face Towson. The men will be back on Sunday, April 6 for a match against NJIT on Senior Day.
