Women's Tennis Defeats Towson, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's tennis squad defeated Towson in a, 4-3, decision on Friday. The women advanced to 12-3 on the season, and 2-1 in conference play.

In doubles competition, the Dragons swept the Tigers. Zeynep Mafa and Marcela Rosales took down their opponents, 8-2. Nicole Pivonka and Erin Bowsher defeated their competition, 8-5, and freshmen Lea Winkler and Fiorella Coria knocked off Towson, 8-5.

During singles play, Pivonka grabbed the highest win at No. 2 with a score of, 6-1, 6-1. Rosales at No. 3 fought a hard battle to her eventual win, 7-6 (1), 6-2. The last and clinching win came for the team with Coria when she defeated her opponent, 1-6, 6-2, 7-5.

The Dragons will be back on the court of Sunday, April 6 for Senior day. Both the men's and women's teams will face NJIT in the last home match of the season. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
