Drexel women's crew is about to set out for Henley-on-Thames, England to compete at the renowned Henley Women's Regatta held on the River Thames. The team will begin its journey across the Atlantic on Saturday, June 14 and competition will run from Friday, June 20 to Sunday, June 22.
The Henley Women's Regatta is one of the most prestigious regattas in the world, an international event with teams competing from countries around the world, some from as far as New Zealand. Over one thousand women compete at the Henley Women's Regatta annually.
This will mark the third time that Director of Rowing Paul Savell has brought Drexel Crew to Henley. In 2012, the men's team competed at the Henley Royal Regatta, and the women competed at the Henley Women's Regatta in 2010. In their last appearance at the women's regatta, Drexel's varsity eight stunned the rowing world, winning the Elite 8 Championship and the Sports Council Cup.
Drexel will have three boats in competition at Henley, including the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity pair.
