Crew Completes Fall Season Sunday at the Princeton Chase

PRINCETON, N.J. – Drexel Crew concluded its fall season Sunday on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J. at the Princeton Chase. The Dragons' day was highlighted by a top-10 finish by the women's freshmen eight.
The women's freshmen eight, racing in the Maria Papadakis boat, earned a seventh-place time of 17:08.341 on Lake Carnegie's three-mile race course. Boston University's lightweight boat won the race with a 16:28.050.
Head coach Paul Savell also got a strong showing from the men's varsity eight A, in the Sandra Lee Sheller II boat, finished 24th out of 51 boats with a time of 13:51.574. The winner, Princeton A, was the only boat under 13 minutes with a 12:57.261. The Dragons' top boat was 13th out of A boats in competition. Drexel also saw the B (Lois Krall boat), D (Joseph Greipp boat) and C (Annette Pennoni boat) boats finish 34th, 43rd and 46th, respectively.
The men's freshmen eight also fared well on Sunday, finishing 14th in a 24-boat field. In th Joseph Greipp boat, clocked a time of 14:50.632. Cal won the race with a 13:21.777, one of three times under 14 minutes.
Drexel's A grabbed the Dragons' best finish in the women's varsity eight race. In the Marlene Buckley II boat, Drexel finished 52nd in the 66-boat field, crossing the finish line at 16:39.095. Virginia won the race with a 14:39.256. Drexel's B boat (Maria Papadakis boat) finished 59th and the C boat (Marlene Buckley boat) finished 61st.
The Dragons will now face a winter of training in preparation for the spring season beginning in March.
