
Rowing Wins Four Races Saturday Afternoon Against La Salle on the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel rowing team won four of its five season-opening races Saturday afternoon on the Schuylkill River against La Salle.
The Dragons saw the men's varsity eight, men's second varsity eight, women's third varsity eight and women's varsity four cross the finish line ahead of the competition.
Drexel's top men's boat started the season off with a decisive victory with a time of 6:05.8 in the Sandra Lee Sheller II boat to outlast Drexel's B boat in the Joseph Greipp with a time of 6:09.2. The Dragons' men's second varsity eights went head-to-head, with the A cruising to a winning time of 6:16.1 in the Lois Krall with the B following in the Annette Pennoni with a time of 6:33.6.
On the women's side, the Dragons' third varsity eight, in the Maria Papadakis boat, beat out George Mason's second varsity eight with a final time of 7:16.09, while the Drexel varsity four, in the Sandra Lee Sheller, beat out the Explorers by nearly 30 seconds, crossing the finish line at 7:55.82.

The Dragons return to the water on Saturday, March 25 when all boats compete at the Murphy Cup Regatta, this year to be held on the Schuylkill River.
