PHILADELPHIA -- The Drexel men's tennis team closed out the regular season portion of its schedule on Saturday as the Dragons fell to James Madison at Vidas Courts, 6-1.
The Dragons head into next week's Colonial Athletic Association Championships with a 13-7 (2-1 CAA) record on the year. The Dukes improve to 13-8 (3-1 CAA).
Drexel was able to grab a victory at No. 3 doubles, a 6-0 sweep from Balaji Lakshmanan and Alex Zenonos, but the Dragons came up short in the top two spots to yield the point. In singles, the Dragons played the Dukes tough, but could not come through in any of the four three-set matches. Zenonos got a win at No. 4 singles after Brett Moorhead retired with the score 3-1 in the first set. Despite forcing three sets at Nos. 1, 3, 5 and 6, the Dragons could not prevail and ultimately fell to James Madison.
Drexel returns to action when it heads to the CAA Championships hosted by Elon, beginning Thursday.
